What is a PNWBA 4-meat State Championship BBQ Contest?
This contest is not a random shadetree BBQ competition, it’s a Pacific North West BBQ Association (PNWBA) sanctioned four meat State Championship BBQ event, a Jack Daniel’s World Championship Invitational Barbecue (draw)* an American Royal Invitational Qualifier*, as well as a Team of the Year (ToY) event for PNWBA.
Contest Basics
Contestants cook 4 types of meat:
• Beef Brisket
• Boston Pork Roast (Pork Shoulder/Boston Butt)
• Pork Ribs
• Chicken
Which may be cooked using heat sources of
• Wood
• Pellet
• Charcoal (Lump or Briquettes)
Entries are presented blindly to judges in provided 9″ x 9″ (Styrofoam to-go style) containers, at specific times. They are judged by trained judges on the following criteria:
• Appearance
• Tenderness
• Taste
